A Place of Hope for Complex Recovery

Leadership at a premier academic health sciences center isn't just about managing a department; it’s about scaling excellence. As Division Head of Orthopaedic Surgery within the Sprott Department of Surgery and the Schroeder Arthritis Institute, I lead a world-class team of 14 surgeons.
Our mission is to transform UHN into a destination for patients who have exhausted all other options—providing a path to pain relief and functional restoration even in the most medically complex cases.

A major pillar of my leadership is the development of the new surgical tower at Toronto Western Hospital, set to open in 2028. This project represents a "Bold Resolve" to redefine the future of healthcare.
My leadership is anchored in the synergy between UHN’s three core missions.
We specialize in tertiary and quaternary care, handling the nation’s most technically difficult cases. By standardizing value-based care pathways, we ensure that every patient benefits from the highest evidence-based standards for restoring function.
As Head of the Division, I oversee a research program that has made UHN the No. 1 Research Hospital in Canada for 15 consecutive years.
We host the largest orthopaedic training and fellowship program in Canada, attracting academic leaders from across the globe. My goal is to mentor "surgeon-scientists" who are equipped to lead in a rapidly evolving, data-driven landscape.
UHN’s leadership role extends to the broader healthcare ecosystem. By sharing our research and innovations globally, we aim to elevate health standards and redefine best practices for orthopaedic surgery everywhere.
